Big meet in Madison

The Wisconsin Girls Invite, hosted by Madison Memorial, takes place this Saturday at the UW Natatorium. A number of top D1 and D2 teams will be there, including defending D1 state champs Hartland-Arrowhead (ranked #1 in the latest state coach's poll), the #2 ranked host team, and #4 Muskego, along with top D2 squads like DeForest, Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol, and Madison Edgewood.

Just like last year, it will be done in the prelims-final format, making for a long day for the swimmers. Look for Arrowhead to do well; it should be fun to see how the remaining D1 and D2 teams sort themselves out in a pool many will be swimming at for state next month.

Arrowhead dominated their dual meet with Waukesha South/Mukwonago last night (10/1) winning all but two events. Arrowhead's depth was on full display as they took 1-2-3 in the 200 Medley Relay and 100 Breast. Arrowhead also did not swim their strongest line up with a few key swimmers only swimming one individual event. There were some pretty fast times for AHS' notoriously slow pool. Emma Goral clocked a fast 56 in the 100 Fly and Julia Mikota won a very close race against Elise Bjora in the 100free going a mid 53. Kayla Skenandore swim a respectable 5:08 in the 500 Free to win and Pamela Breitrick won the 200 IM at a 2:11 for Waukesha South

Thanks for the update; Mikota has been impressive from what I've seen and added even more depth to a pretty deep lineup already.
