Thoughts: With more teams posting results, the statewide polls are beginning to more accurately reflect the landscape of the boys swim season so far. Bayport, which has assembled a very deep and versatile group of swimmers this year with some top-tier relays, is a notable addition to the D1 poll. In D2, Shorewood flipped spots with Whitefish Bay after a terrific week last week that saw the Shorewood swimmers beat the Blue Dukes in a dual meet and then come back and win the Bulldog Invite at Cedarburg Saturday against a solid cast of D2 teams.
Still, some notable teams with very good swimmers haven't posted times yet -- Greenfield/Greendale, Marquette, Muskego, Neenah, Wausau East and Chippewa Falls in D1, and Madison Edgewood, Fort Atkinson, Waunakee, Baraboo, (is there something in the water in the Badger Conference this year?) and Sturgeon Bay/Southern Door in D2.

It is an absolute shame that the WIAA does not keep, track and post results of every high school meet during the year. The bottom line is that nearly every meet is run on computer scoring of some kind, all of which are compatible with each other. Why Jason has to do it in his spare time on a volunteer basis is beyond me. The WIAA certainly has no problem keeping track of the "popular sports" like footbal and basketball.
I know the WIAA posts weekly scores of football games throughout the state on their website; I don't know that they tabulate or get statistics in the manner of individual times for swimming.
Part of it, too, is the culture of reporting individual stats. The blog has been getting (and I've been asking for) a lot more results this year, but I still sense some -- not a lot, but some -- degree of reluntance on the part of coaches to share times when it comes to the top-30 listings. Noteworthy to me is that the very cream of the crop for boys swimming -- Hartland-Arrowhead, Mad. Memorial, McFarland, all well-established programs -- have no problem posting times (I think McFarland started posting times the night of their first meet). As one who always thinks more information is better, it's a good example to follow, from where I sit.
Phil, I entered Edgewood's top 30 times this week and they should be in next week's poll. Derek Scheer, Edgewood Head Coach.
Derek:
Great! I hope your Badger Conf. colleagues join your effort.
