More conference results

For a variety of reason, and with apologies, I find myself cramped for time today. But here are some results and links to some conference results from yesterday (and thanks to all for sending these along!):

Madison Memorial took the Big 8 conference title, led by double-winner Michael Drives (who swum the backstroke, of all things; don't expect a repeat this Saturday at sectionals from Drives in that event). Memorial picked up the win, even with its very fast 400 free relay DQing at the end. Full results here:

-- Wausau East won its fourth Wisconsin Valley Conference title in five years, led by defending D1 100 free state champ Danny Brebrick. -- Neenah takes the Fox Valley Association title, setting up a solid contest between the Rockets and Bay Port Pirates this Saturday at the Neenah sectional. Coverage of Neenah's win here from the Appleton Post-Crescent: http://www.postcrescent.com/article/20100207/APC020507/2070606/-1/Varsity/Neenah-swimming-team-secures-FVA-title

-- McFarland overcame seven wins from Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights to win the Badger North Conference swim meet in Baraboo. Coverage here from the State Journal (with the added note that the story incorrectly has Jacob Mandli winning the back; he won the breaststroke. And that Matt Friede of Sauk won the 100 free in a time about five seconds faster than what's written in the story): http://host.madison.com/sports/high-school/swimming/article_dcbaddef-3f6f-5610-bfd1-7e0065a12ebf.html

-- Coverage from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel of Hartland Arrowhead's win over Waukesha South/Catholic Memorial, with some interesting observations by head coaches Bob Jenkyns of HA and Blaine Carlson of WS/CM: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/preps/83737302.html

- Aiden Kohnhorst sets two conference records in the 200 and 500 frees to lead Hartford to the Wisconsin Little Ten conference championship over Watertown. Full results here...
